What do you think the names for this week will be? I have no clue, but let’s find out…
Baby boy: Erskine; from the Gaelic, ‘from the height of the cliff’ Baby girl: Louise; French female form of Louis. Um, then there’s like about two paragraphs worth of Louise related info. Not gonna go there but some highlights include - Louisa May Alcott and St Louise de Marillac’s impact on the popularity of this name. Also numerous compounds and variations of this name are given. All in all, Louise is one of the most popular names in the world; or so my baby name book notes. Oddly, I’ve met very few people named Louise. Hmmm. Go figure.
Well, honestly I’m wondering if the baby name book is just messing with me. I mean really, have you ever met an Erskine? I know I haven’t. I don’t like too many E names. Some, like Eden, Echo, and Emily, but mostly I’m not an E name kind of girl. I’m a huge Louisa May Alcott fan, but I know that I’d never name a baby Louise. To me it sounds a little like an older name; not great for a cute little baby. Also, it’s pretty common. I’m more into unique names.
What do you think? Either of these names rock your world? Or no?
