With summer in full swing, it’s important to think about sun safety. It’s been estimated that 80% of a person’s lifetime sun damage takes place before he or she is 18 years old; most of this happens in the summer and in peak sun hours.
Intense sun exposure that results in sunburn increases your baby’s risk for developing skin cancer later in life.
If your baby is younger than six months, keep her out of direct sunlight. Use the shade of a tree, umbrella, or stroller canopy to protect her delicate skin.
