Yup, it’s official, just when you thought no one could offer anything new on Angelina Jolie and her baby brood, W Magazine’s November issue is supposedly featuring a breastfeeding Jolie on the cover.
Personally, as you may have noticed, I’m not so into celebrity baby news. I prefer mama news, mama post-postpartum exercise, and mama situations that aren’t glazed over with personal trainers, luxury diaper bags, and 10 bedroom homes - I mean, who can relate?
Still, in this case, I have to admit, Jolie breastfeeding on the cover seems like only a good thing. The breastfeeding movement can always use extra support. Women who breastfeed, or who want to, may feel more comfortable knowing that their favorite star breastfeeds too, or feel good that someone they look up to breastfeeds. This isn’t all women need to encourage them to breastfeed, but it can’t hurt. My position is that this is great for breastfeeding advocates.
What do you think; good news for spreading the breastfeeding word, or too much publicity in the wrong place?

Hmm. I guess it’s a good thing when a celebrity is shown breast feeding. I am surprised that Angelina Jolie is. I remember her taking several extended solo trips before Shiloh was one year old, which made me realize she must not have breast fed her very long. (Unlike you, I obviously follow celebrity gossip!)

Hey Rebecca! She may have been pumping with the other baby - I had college during Cedar’s first year, and when I couldn’t take him to class, I’d pump and leave his dad with milk. You’re funny, I don’t see you as the follow celeb gossip type. My sis is a People addict though, so I hear stuff from her once in a while - mostly I go, “huh?”
