When you start baby proofing your home for your soon to be walking little one, the number one best way to go about it, is to think like a baby or a small child.

Items that are very obvious to you look like loads of fun to your babe. A shelf not attached to the wall, still looks like a fun climbing toy. The flowers on the tree outside the second story nursery window look perfect for picking — if your little can get her bedroom screen off easily.

Food items (or, I should say not food items are the worst). Use a keen eye when locking stuff up during your baby proofing efforts. Pretty much everything that looks like food needs to be out of your child’s reach.

Examples:

Drinks and poisons look very similar to a little kid. Notice that even the logo designs have similarities.

Candy and pills same thing. To a child — which is which?

Each time you look at a household item and the whole time you’re baby proofing. Look at items with child eyes; consider what your child maybe thinks the product is. Something we take for granted as dangerous, can look like a world of fun to a child.
