Your newborn is not only special because she’s all yours but she’s got some fun features as well - and not just that new amazing baby smell.

your amazing newborn

At birth babies can swim: Who knew you had a little fish?! But don’t toss you baby into the pool just yet. Even though babies are born knowing how to use swim-like reflexes - one, a reflex that causes them to hold their breath and open their eyes when submerged and two, a reflex that makes them move their arms and legs in a swimming motion, they’re not technically amazing swimmers. These reflexes do not protect a baby from drowning dangers and they still need 100% attention when at the pool.

At birth your baby’s head is 10% of her total body weight: Adult heads make up only 2% of their body weight. That’s one large baby head you need to protect, especially since it houses her equally amazing brain. To protect your baby’s head, always hold her properly, never ever shake her, and no baby tossing! Baby tossing only comes off well in Hollywood movies and commercials - in real life it’s simply not safe.

When your baby is just two days old she knows who you are by scent: Babies are just that quick. That means she can pick her own mama (YOU!) out of a bunch of random mamas. Very cool. Because of this, you are your baby’s best baby soothing tool. Got a fussy baby - try wearing her in a sling or simply cuddle her more often and you’ll have a content chill baby in no time.

I will suggest amber teething necklaces. They’ve been super. It might be too early to tell, but both of the kids have been way less irritable today. They sleep much better and longer. I haven’t given them any tylenol for teething pain, but they seem happy and pain free with the necklaces. Plus, the necklaces are adorable. I took the kids strolling in the mall today and got many compliments.
