Medical News Today is reporting that pregnant mamas still face hostile behavior when applying for jobs - frustrating.

You’d think we’d have come further than this; yet no, two recent studies show that pregnant mamas are at risk of unfair judgments and face major obstacles when job hunting. The studies, completed by George Mason University and Rice University professors, was set up to explore the different interpersonal reactions that pregnant women face on a day-to-day basis.

Some findings:

When pregnant women were evaluated for traditionally more masculine jobs like janitor, lawyer, or math teacher, evaluators were likely to say that if hired the pregnant woman would complain or expect that other do their work. Evaluators were far less likely to say the above when pregnant women applied for jobs like day care centers or maid.

Women were sent into stores wearing pretend pregnancy bellies - and then sent back without the belly. Under these circumstances…

• Pregnant women who stuck to shopping were treated too sticky sweet; i.e. being called “Honey” or being gushed over.
• Pregnant women who asked for work were treated poorly.
• When the same women went back with no pregnancy belly, the same behaviors towards them did not occur; i.e. they were treated well.

That’s just so lame; I’m not sure where to start. Unless you’d like to hear an ultra long rant; you should probably just tell me what you make of this.
