New research is out from the University of Manitoba, that says vitamin D is a tooth booster for unborn babies.

The facts: Pregnant women who got plenty of vitamin D during their pregnancy had babies with healthier teeth. Babies born to women who had inadequate levels of vitamin D during pregnancy were more likely to have early tooth decay and tooth enamel defects.

What you can do: If you’re pregnant make sure you get plenty of vitamin D. Also, it’s important to get outside for a daily walk. Vitamin D is the sunshine vitamin which means your body can synthesis this vitamin better if you get some sun. Don’t ignore year-round sunscreen though. It only takes a few minutes of sunshine a day to create vitamin D.
